Fluke
You’ve met Magoo (I’d show him to you now but he is out of town on holiday) but you’ve not met his best friend FLUKE!
Fluke often pronounces his name Flounder (Our fluke is originally a European flounder from the Black Sea so sometimes his accent is strange). He really wants you to know that he only met Magoo because of shit eating bottom trawling. He was just minding his own business trying to eat some crabs and suddenly, his life changed forever.
He does want to make sure you know his stance on overfishing by commercial trawling. He sees that shit from one side of his body and he detests it. Ok …but besides that, Fluke is so happy to be here!
In his larval stage, both of his eyes were on each side of his head but after his metamorphosis into his juvenile stage (where he is now because he is still so small – he’s already been larva and fry!), one of his eyes migrates so that both eyes are on top. It helps him be a more fearsome predator. He was totally antisocial as a fry but now as a juvenile, he’s starting to spread his fins, grow his scales and really just learn all the things about being a flounder. Fluke is also most likely to be eaten while he is out being social, but he must make it past this stage to reproduce.
When Fluke enters the adult stage, he will change his habitat and start to stalk his prey using camouflage by lying on the bottom of the ocean. That way, no one else eats him while he is trying to eat someone else. As an adult this is when reproduction occurs and the life cycle is renewed.
Fluke is here just in time for fishin’ season and hopes you get out and put your feet in some water so ya’ll can hang out.
