Personifications of the maiden, mother, and crone persist throughout human history. To catalog our existence & categorize our humanity through the passing of time, as is understood uniquely through various cultures.

A personification of the cycle of life, death, truth & balance.

In Greek mythology they were three sisters: Clotho (the spinner), Lachesis (the allotter), and Atropos (the inevitable; death).

In Roman lore, The Parcae; personified woman of destiny who directed the life and death of not only humans, but also the gods.

In Norse mythology; the Nors, who spin fate at the foot of Yggdrasil.

Outside of European mythos, we see parallels being made with many cultures that have similar deities to destiny, fate, and in turn, morality, truth, and wisdom.
